Review: Sig Sauer Handgun 102

Sig Sauer Academy Handgun 102

Taken: early August.

Level:                    Beginner level.

Lecture:         (4)   Solid 4-5 hours, providing a good grounding in: safety, carrying practices and holsters, types of handguns, safes, and training drills.

Range:          (5)   A good half day of basic training and drills. 200+- rounds fired.

Materials:      (5)  Good handout materials including large legal appendices and future training options.

Equipment:   (5)   Students can bring their own guns or borrow excellent quality firearms from the academy. Ammunition NOT provided but available for purchase. Must be frangible if shooting indoors.

Value:            (5)   Tuition was $200. An excellent value for the expertise of the instructors and the included materials.

Recommended For: Anyone who would like a solid course in the basics of shooting handguns. Acceptable for shooters with a bit of prior experience. Even those who have been shooting for several years will learn something. Should not be the first course for a new shooter.

Total Score: 24/25  (96% for those who prefer things that way)

Opinion: Again, I enjoyed myself. Of course, I enjoy training. The instructors were excellent and the drills were appropriately more advanced than the 101 class. If you've had some training and want a good solid class in improving, this is a great one to take!
