Review: Sig Sauer Academy Handgun 104

Sig Sauer Academy Handgun 104

Taken: late December.

Level:                    Intermediate Level.

Lecture:        (N/A)  A safety briefing only.

Range:          (4)  A full day of shooting. Fired between 600 and 800 rounds with most shooters averaging around 750. Variety of drills; lots of range time.

Materials:      (N/A)

Equipment:   (4)   Students can bring their own guns or borrow excellent quality firearms from the academy. Ammunition NOT provided but available for purchase. Must be frangible if shooting indoors. Academy prices are good on ammo; no need to worry about getting ripped off if you buy it there. Bring a dump bag if shooting outdoors or a revolver.

Value:            (4)   Tuition was $200. A decent value for the drills and use of the range.

Recommended For: Shooters looking to practice lots of drills and really get a good grounding in defensive drills. This should NOT be your first class.

Total Score: 12/15  (80% for those who prefer things that way)

Opinion: This was a pretty good course, though I found it to carry over some repeat of 103. The shear amount of shooting done is valuable; I went through about 800 rounds in just under 6 hours. It really pushes your limits and helps you figure out if your equipment is right for you. The cover drills were great, as were the running and shooting drills. This is not a beginners class.
