Review: Sig Sauer Handgun 103

Sig Sauer Academy Handgun 103

Taken: mid August.

Level:                    Intermediate Level.

Lecture:         (5) A short but very good lecture. Discussion includes such things as OODA Loop and other defensive minded concepts.

Range:          (5)  Almost a full day of shooting. Fired between 300 and 500 rounds with most shooters averaging around 350-400. Excellent drills; lots of range time.

Materials:      (N/A)

Equipment:   (4)   Students can bring their own guns or borrow excellent quality firearms from the academy. Ammunition NOT provided but available for purchase. Must be frangible if shooting indoors. Academy prices are good on ammo; no need to worry about getting ripped off if you buy it there. Bring a dump bag. Some instructors can provide but most cannot and you'll need it.

Value:            (5)   Tuition was $200. An excellent value for the expertise of the instructors and the included materials.

Recommended For: Shooters looking to make the move from introductory courses to defensive handgun. Anyone who intends to concealed carry. You will move and shoot, shoot varying targets and drills, shoot with dominant and non dominant hands only, introduce communicating and shooting, etc. This should NOT be your first class.

Total Score: 19/20  (95% for those who prefer things that way)

Opinion: Wonderful course, in my opinion. I had a great time and learned a lot. Warning, damsels, you will likely be the only girl there, don't let it phase you though. Our instructor took us right through defensive shooting. Really great course, in my opinion, and a must for people who are going to concealed carry.
